Course Offerings

ELEMENTARY PROGRAM: Kindergarten-Gr. 5
Courses included in the elementary curriculuum meet the standards of the Department of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  Students receive over 1100 hours of instruction which includes: Bible, Character Development,  Math, Language Arts, Reading, Penmanship, Social Studies, History, Mathematics, Science, Health, Music, Art, Physical Education, Spanish, Computer and Performing Arts.  We believe in a strong component in "hands-on" learning experiences to meet individual student needs.  Students are taught in a flexible environment and are able to move from room to room to specified teachers for their various subjects.  We believe that elementary teachers should teach the subjects they love and in which they excel.  This gives our elementary teachers the best teachers in every subject!
MIDDLE SCHOOL PROGRAM: Gr. 6-8
The middle school curriculuum follows the same guidelines as those listed above.  Middle school students are able to begin to choose electives to their core curriculuum.  These courses include performing arts classes, music theory and performance, art expression, computer and technology, and international languages.  If they are able, they will begin to assume high school class options at the 7th and 8th grades, specifically in the areas of math, science, and international languages.
HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAM: Gr. 9-12
Once again, the high school curriculuum meets the accepted standards of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania but with a Godly worldview.  The Course of Study is much too exhaustive to list here; but, most classes at LWCS are taught at the honors or AP level.  However, we do individualize classes to meet the needs of every student.
We offer College in High School options either with local colleges directly or through an educational co-op with a local school district.  We also have an educational co-op with the local school district for classes not offered by the home district which students may take at each other's schools.
The uniqueness of LWCS is that while we are an excellent academic school placing our students at well recognized academic colleges and universities, we offer a strong arts component.  Research has long documented the importance of the arts in the development of cognitive ability and well rounded individuals who are very productive in society.
